Barrie Smith has been named the Volunteer of the Year at the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospital Trust's Star Awards. The event was held at Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster.
Each year the ceremony celebrates and thanks staff and volunteers of the Trust. It was hosted by BBC Look North's Harry Gration and attended by over 250 guests.
Barrie has volunteered for nine years, making a big impact on both staff and patients at Bassetlaw Hospital. He was nominated by his colleagues.
Having retired from paid work in 2007, the volunteer's duties include welcoming patients, making them feel comfortable, collecting treatments from the pharmacy, services lunches and providing refreshments.
